Below you will find detailed information on the upcoming performances for our programs. Please notice that while the December 15th’s Jazz Night is being put on by Southernaires only, and December 16th’s Faure “Requiem” concert is involving Symphonic Choir and the South Symphony, you are encouraged to support these groups in these performances that will be an incredible concert for audience members and choir singers!
December 15th Capitol Rotunda Concert (All Choirs) 12:00-1:00PM at the Oregon State Capitol
Students will be excused from school from around 11:00AM-1:30PM on this day. They are to be in full concert dress for this performance and should come to school in concert attire (robes can be picked up in the choir room before getting on the buses). Parents, family members, friends, and community members are encouraged to come to this free concert! Singers will be transported to and from the event by school buses. This event is taped by CCTV and can be seen on local TV during the holiday season. Audience members, please remember that parking around the capitol is metered, so plan accordingly.
December 15th Southernaires Jazz Solo Night 7:00PM at the IKE Box 299 Cottage St NE Salem, OR 97301
Southernaires will put on it’s annual Winter Jazz Solo Night where each member will be able to be seen in a solo setting with a full rhythm section and in the comfortable setting of the IKE Box. This event is free to attend and we encourage all choir students and supporters to come for this great night of music and hear some incredibly talented musicians.
December 16th Symphonic Choir sings Faure’s Requiem 7:00PM in the Rose Auditorium with the Symphony
Symphonic Choir and the South Symphony have been preparing to collaborate on Faure’s Requiem since their Fall Concerts and this concert is one you will not want to miss. It is rare that high school music departments collaborate on pieces of music that are at such a grand scale. This performance will feature students from all three music organizations at South all on stage for a huge performance. Please arrive early to secure a seat as this performance will likely be a capacity audience! We hope to see choir, band, and orchestra students and parents there!
December 17th The Winter Concert (All Choirs) 7:30PM in the Rose Auditorium, Call time for singers – 6:30PM
The annual Winter Concert will feature every choir South has singing on stage as individuals and closing as one mass choir for the finale piece. From jazz solos to carols to Bach, this concert has something for everyone. Bring your family, friends, and supporters for our last performance before winter break!
