Symphonic Choir is to be at South at 5:50PM tomorrow to rehearse with the honor choirs for a 7PM concert. Please come dressed for your performance. We will robe shortly after the rehearsal. Admission is free and it should be a great concert featuring the 4th and 5th grade South Area Honor Choir, Judson Concert Choir, Leslie Concert Choirs, and Symphonic Choir.
Southernaires will not meet tomorrow and soprano sectionals are happening tomorrow.
Thank you to the many students who auditioned for the All-State Choirs this year! Please know this process is just a snapshot of you as a musician and has helped you grow, regardless of the outcome. Congratulations to the following 12 students were selected to the Oregon Music Educators Association All-State Choirs:
Women’s Choir: Ualah Braff, Zunyana Crier, Rachel Dixon, Bailey Drum, Hannah Gertenrich, Mia Lopez & Bryanna West
Men’s Choir: Zari Crier, Kevin Gonzalez, Brenden Greene, Nathaniel Schwab & Simon Staples
Students and parents of students will meet with Mr. McLean in the Choir Room on Wednesday, October 29 at 6:30PM to talk about dates, cost, and other important details. Please be sure that each student and at least one parent/guardian is present for this meeting!
Our next opportunity is All-City Auditions! Auditions are November 18 at South HS. Information can be found in the Choir Handbook and more details will be coming out next week about this. We would love to see as much blue and red representing South this year.
Our Fall Concert is upon us! This Wednesday, October 22nd at 7:30PM all of the choirs at South will be performing their first concert of the year. All students are to report to their assigned room for check in dressed and ready for the concert at 6:30PM . Students are expected to be present for the entire concert as it is part of their concert exam grade and will contribute to their analysis and reflection assignment that they will have in class.
The concert cost is $3 a ticket or 2 for $5. Parents and audience members are encouraged to arrive early as we are expecting a large audience on Wednesday. Doors will open to the general public at 7:00PM and at 6:50PM for Gold Card Members (if you are interested, these will be on sale at the concert). While we will make announcements from the stage, please know that we will not allow any entrance or exit while a group is performing. It is a major distraction for our students and audience members when there is excess noise, movement, and action while there are groups on stage. All of our ensembles have worked so very hard to put this concert on and deserve to have a great audience and concert experience. So, please help us build that for them!
Reminder to Southernaires that we will do an evening sound check on Tuesday from 6-6:30PM and Chanteuse will do an evening sound check from 6:30-7:30PM.
What a great way to cap off Homecoming Week by having our very own Emma Edmonds be named Homecoming Queen and Lindsay Flood representing the class of 2017! We are looking forward to a great first concert on Wednesday at 7:30PM. Students should be working on their music this weekend to be fully prepared!
