Handbook Forms Due Date, Sight-Reading, and Reminders

Choir Handbook Contract, Medical Forms, and Fair Share Contribution are due by the end of school September 19th.  While the forms are due on this date, the class with them all turned in first will be rewarded with food.  So, get those forms turned in ASAP!  These forms can be located under the tab entitled, “Documents/Forms.”

You will notice that next week after school has been earmarked for “Sight-Reading Tutoring” on the Choir Calendar.  This is an opportunity for students that may need some extra sight-reading help in a one-on-one setting, some extra practice on their own, or would like to ask some questions about sight-reading or solfege strategies that they can use to improve.  Mr. McLean and volunteer students will be in the Choir Room after school all week to assist any student looking to improve their sight-reading skills.

Choir Parents!

South Salem Music Boosters invites all music parents to Upbeat, an ice cream social in the Lower Commons on Monday September 8th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Events for the year will be presented, including travel plans, concert schedules, communication and fundraisers. After a general meeting, Choir parents will be invited to the Choir Room (161) to meet with Mr. McLean as he has a number of things he would like to cover, would love to answer your questions and is looking forward to meeting you!

The award winning South High music program provides quality music education and experiences for its students and parental involvement is necessary to continue this tradition of excellence. Plan to join us and prepare for a successful year.

Important Voice Lesson Information – Feedback Needed

Private voice lessons are an excellent opportunity for students to get the one-on-one instruction and feedback that they don’t always get in choir.  Keep in mind, voice lessons benefit any student regardless of prior skill-level, experience, or choir they are in.  As South students are very committed both in and out of school, it is a priority to make voice lessons more accessible to our students at South.  Please fill out the following form as it will give great information for our development of a more accessible voice lesson program!
