The following information is specific to Symphonic Choir. Please read it all and be sure to have marked your calendars and made arrangements accordingly:
DATES
We have been reminding students consistently for the past few weeks about checking their spring schedules as we have very important dates on the horizon. Please be sure you are aware of following dates:
Tuesday, March 31st All Day – Symphonic Day Trip (Clinic at Portland State, time in the Pearl District, concert at Union HS in Vancouver, WA)
Tuesday, April 7th, time TBA – District Choir Qualifying at West Salem HS
Thursday, April 9th, 7:30PM – Spring Choir Concert at South Salem HS
Saturday, April 11th, time TBA (early afternoon) – Spring clinic with Dr. Richard Nance of PLU at South Salem HS
Monday, April 27th, time TBA (early afternoon) – Spring clinic with Erick Lichte of Chor Leoni
Thursday, May 7th, 7:30PM – Pre-State Performance at South Salem HS
(If we qualify) Saturday, Mat 9th time mostly all day – State Choir Competition

MARCH 31ST TRIP DETAILS
Trip outline – Symphonic Choir will depart from the north entrance of the school at 9:15AM for Portland State University where we will do a clinic with Dr. Ethan Sperry. At the close of the clinic, students will be headed to the Portland Pearl District for some time where they will eat lunch. Students will then be transported to Union HS in Vancouver, WA where they will spend time with the choirs of Union and Heritage High Schools from Evergreen School District. That concert time will be around 7PM and will be finalized very soon. At the close of the concert, we will be returning to South!
Trip Cost – $0, students will need to bring money for lunch on their own

Rehearsal Plan for 2/25-27
2/25 – In-Class Sectionals until 12:20PM, Sopranos-Orchestra Room, Altos-Band Room, Tenors-Big Practice Room, Basses-Choir Room. Complete the Sectional Selfie Competition on Instagram! Remember the section with the most likes will win, so be sure to follow South Salem Choir on Instagram
2/26 – Trip T Shirt Designs due to the box or emailed to Mr. McLean. Split Lunch rehearsal. Tenors and Basses sing first, eat second. Sopranos and Altos eat first, eat second.
2/27 – Full Rehearsal (Conner will be there to assist as necessary)
Goals Accomplished by 3/2 (Monday Mr. McLean returns)
Sing from memory in octets – “Ballade to the Moon,” “Nunc Dimittis,” “Tykus (Beginning through letter E)”
Sing from music octets – “Sounding Sea,” Tykus Tykus (F to the end),” “Way Over in Beulah Lan'”
