Below you will find the schedule for April 11th’s Greater Valley League Festival at Western Oregon University. This event is for Chamber Women’s Choir and Symphonic Choir only. We would love to have your support at this event!
Tomorrow night is our annual Spring Concert at 7:30PM in the Rose Auditorium at South. This concert involves all of the choirs from South and will feature the Chamber Women’s Choir and Symphonic Choir performing music from their competition set for District Choir that will take place next week.
Admission is $3/person or 2 tickets for $5. Doors will open for Gold Card Members at 6:55 and to the General Public at 7:00.
Call time for all students is at 6:30PM and they are to be in concert dress for this concert. A reminder that for our men, that means black dress pants, black socks, and black dress shoes. For our women, please be sure to have your black flats, and your hair appropriate for your ensemble needs.
Tomorrow night is the Salem-Keizer Advanced Choral Fesitval at Sprague HS Gymnasium. This event is one of the best nights of choral music in the Salem-Keizer area and features the State-Qualifying ensembles from our school district sharing a concert and singing all together in a massed choir finale. Concert begins at 7:00PM, doors open at 6:30PM and tickets cost $5/individual and $15/family (gold passes do not get you in for this event). This is a great concert and we hope to see you there to support our Symphonic singers!
On May 23, South Salem Choir will be holding our first ever Jazz Night Auction Fundraiser, in the Mission Mill Spinning Room. This event will feature the Southernaires in solo and ensemble performances in tandem with silent and live auctions. This fundraising effort will be put towards the entire choral program to assist with equipment, lessons, uniforms, travel, and many more student opportunities.
Doors will open at 6:00PM with our first phase of the silent auction ending at 6:50 and music beginning at 7:00PM. Tickets will be pre-sold and made available at the door for $10/adult and $5/student and seniors. Included in your ticket is a seat at a table, dessert provided by Willamette Valley Pie Company, Coffee, the performances, and the ability to participate in the auctions. Tickets are limited, so, pre-sale tickets will go on sale soon and information will be sent to you about it.
For this event we are asking for table sponsors and/or donated items to be included in the auction process. If you are interested in donating an item or being a table sponsor, please read THIS DOCUMENT that outlines the benefits of being a sponsor and how to donate. No donation is too big or too small! While this event is put on by the Music Boosters, donated items do not need to be music related (ex. tickets to sporting events, AirBnB stays, legal services, etc).
Additionally, we will be making an ask of student and parent volunteers to help our event run smoothly. As this will benefit the entire program, we will be reaching out to all parents and students who can lend their talents to make this a special night.
We hope that you will consider supporting the South Choirs by attending this performance and consider table sponsoring and donating.
Thank you to every student that auditioned for Mr. McLean over the past few weeks. We heard massive improvements in vocal ability, music literacy, and overall musicianship. While only some singers will reach their goals with each audition, please know all of you are valued and that you can receive feedback on your audition and work with Mr. McLean any time to develop strategies to meet those goals. We couldn’t be more proud of our singers! These results are as of 9:10PM, 1/23 and may be updated further.
