Concert Info!

We have our first Choir concert this Wednesday, 10/17, at 7:30PM in the Rose Auditorium at South Salem HS.  Our students have been working diligently on their music and we can’t wait to put on a great concert!  Below you will find information for both students and parents for the night of the concert:
-Students are to be at South in uniform at 6:45PM.  With traffic and hundreds of students participating, we recommend that your students are here at 6:30PM.  They will have assigned rooms to go to for robes and to meet with their choir.
-Doors open at 7:00PM and tickets are $3 for one and 2 for $5.  If paying is a problem, please respond and we will take care of your admission so you can attend the concert.
-The concert will likely end between 9:00PM and 9:30PM.  Students are to stay for the duration of the concert as it is a learning experience for them to observe one another’s performance.
-This concert will be filled to capacity so we recommend parents arrive early to secure seating in the Rose for the concert.
We look forward to seeing you!

Pie Sale Begins Today!

The South Music Department has opened our annual Pie Sale with the Willamette Valley Pie Company!  This has been a hugely successful sale in the past and we know that you enjoy it, too!  This is a great way for our students to raise funds into their student account for things like fair-share charges, trips, private lessons, and many other things. The sale starts today, October 6th and runs until October 28th.   Pies will be delivered on Wednesday, November 18th. For more information on the Pie Sale, click on the tab under “Fundraising” in the Menu Bar, check CHARMS or click HERE.  There you will find pricing information, additional order forms, and details on each product.  We have consistently been the number one seller of pies in the state of Oregon, so let’s keep the tradition of excellence going!  If you have more questions, please email mclean_william@salkeiz.k12.or.us

MEN Salem

Male Ensemble Northwest (MEN) is holding a workshop and performance for all middle and high school male singers in Salem-Keizer.  Because of generous donations made by West Salem Choir Boosters, McNary Choir Boosters, South Salem Choir Boosters, Sprague Choir Boosters, Judson Choir Boosters and Whiteaker Choir Boosters, the event will be FREE for the participants.  This will be an amazing opportunity for our men.

Jim Taylor (McNary Choir Director) wrote the following about Male Ensemble Northwest:

Twenty-nine years ago I sat in a pew in a Salem church and watched the performance of a group called Male Ensemble Northwest.  I was a junior from Sprague High School.  I never forgot the experience…in fact, I still have the program from the concert.  I remember Wallace Long from Willamette University standing in the dead center of the group leading the way with his big bass voice and charismatic performance.   I remember the uproarious TV Medley by Dan Davison. I absolutely remember telling my choir director Mr. Gary Frame that I wanted to someday sing in that group.  And today I stand between Wallace and Dan and among these wonderful singers, educators and conductors. We are and aim to be “those who go before” and we want to create a life-long memory for the participants in our festivals.
