From 4:00PM-7:30PM on Monday, August 31 to Wednesday, September 2 is our South Choir Camp! This camp is free and open to South Choir members in grades 9-12. At camp we will be learning some music for the upcoming year (including the All-City Honor Choir audition music), playing games, learning sight-reading techniques, getting to know everyone, understanding how to audition for honor choirs, working with voice teachers, eating snacks, and getting back in the swing of things! We will have a number of our voice teachers in during camp, so this would also be a great way to connect and get to know them!
Things to bring to camp:
Comfortable Clothing and Footwear
We are excited to be welcoming so many new choir members this year at South! With this influx, we have expanded our offerings for voice lessons in class. To ensure your place in lessons, please review, complete, and send the Voice Lessons Packet (see below) to Mr. McLean as soon as possible. Forms can be dropped off at the school office or scanned and emailed.

On Saturday, September 12th from 8:30AM-2:30PM, we will have our Music Day Fundraiser. This fundraiser is the largest one that we have for Choir and the Music Program all year. Students canvas our South neighborhoods in groups, with a parent driver for the day. It is mandatory that members of Symphonic Choir (routes) and Chamber Women (choir room/area work day) participate on this day. Parents of any group are more than welcome to help out by signing up below by clicking the appropriate sign up. Once signed up, please be sure to read the description provided on the sign up site. We can’t wait to make this the best Music Day yet! Thank you to all of our parents and Boosters who have done such a great job with this event.

For the 2015-2016 school year, South Salem High School will be presenting the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. We hope that many of you will audition and be a part of this great production! Below you will find information about performances, audition materials, and more!
Performances will be December 4, 5, 10, 11 at 7PM and Dec 6 and 12 at 2PM in the Rose Auditorium.
Singing and Acting Auditions will be 2:30PM – around 6PM Sept 14-16 in the Choir Room. This audition will include presentation of the song(s) and monologues prepared.
Dance Auditions will be 2:30PM – 5:45PM September 17th right after school in the Rose Auditorium. This audition will include a tap/jazz combo that all are asked to learn and present that day.
Below you will find the audition materials for major characters and vocal ranges for those characters, a monologue selection page, and sheet music for auditions for Muzzy, Dorothy, Mrs. Meers, Jimmy, and Trevor Graydon. Those auditioning should prepare a monologue from the list (memorize, use gestures and vocal inflection to create character) and the music for one of the characters. Auditionees will be considered for all roles, not just the ones presented at auditions, and there are many supporting characters and chorus roles that are not listed here.
Rehearsals will be mostly in the evenings in September, October, November and early December. We are willing to work around sports schedules and activities on a case by case basis. Backstage tech volunteers are also needed
Please see also our audition information group on Facebook, called SSHS Millie 2015. Or become a fan of the show and follow the public information about it at Thoroughly Modern Millie at South Salem High. If you have further questions, email Ms. Gibbons at firstname.lastname@example.org
or inquire in room 181.
